Proposal

In today’s lesson I was informed that I have pitch to my entire class about what I plan to do for my FMP. What I have to do is write a proposal 500 words specifying;

• intro (who are you, what are you passionate about)

• origin (where the idea comes from)

• concept (what is the idea about) + synopsis

• current skills,

• weaknesses and strengths-

• project title (this can be a working title)

I think it is important that I do this, because I can gain valuable feedback which could possibly increase the quality of my FMP. Furthermore, it is important that I do this to the best of my ability because my teacher needs to fully comprehend the idea that I am expressing, because he/she needs to know what direction I am going to take before I have started any practical work. Below I have pasted my proposal for my FMP.

Proposal

Ethical Fashion, Dier.

My name is Sufian Sesay. There are numerous things in life I am passionate about. For example, I am an avid supporter of football. Also, I like embarking on different locations seeking new experiences whilst meeting new people. However, fashion for me has to top over everything I am interested in. The thrill of buying new clothes, the design, the colours all play a massive part to me. Dressing in the best quality clothes I have acquired so far makes me proud. A great selection of clothing for any weather lingers in my wardrobe. Fashion not only for me but others that know me enable me to have a reputable status – which I pay no attention to.

Ethical fashion is work in progress. Right now globally we are using too much materials that are controversial and easy assessable. We need a change. An idea. A revelation. Many of the top end brands customers’ purchase from all have dark secrets behind them. Working conditions are appalling. Employees are not felt comfortable to work within a factory. Animal welfare is rejected. Millions of animal’s death are utilised for their gain. Their fur is used to make extravagant coats making so much species of animals endangered.

My idea is to create a new clothing brand, which has the perfect element behind it and excludes the negative aspects that come with global known brands. Working conditions will satisfactory for the employees and health and safety will be a top priority. No animal’s death will be utilised for our advantage. On my website as well as the rich quality we aim to display through our clothing. We want to sell our products at a fair and reasonable price range. Sustainable production is also going to be implemented to our brand. We’re proud to say our fabrics are from eco-friendly resources. We really believe in the three R’s – Reduce, Reuse and Recycle.

My current skills are impeccable given to the surprise of my age. I specialise in photography. Taking pictures is what I regularly do, and the art has become natural to me for many years now. I know how to edit videos using the software Adobe Premiere Pro, as it has helped me to understand how timing and pacing can make a product more appealing to an audience. In addition, another skill that I attained at college is learning how use different software such as: Photoshop and Illustrator. This has enabled me to edit and enhance images. I have also created logos, manipulated text and subverted original advertising campaigns. All of these skills have significantly equipped me because now I can create animation, present eye-catching ideas more vividly and present videos that successfully fulfil purpose in line with a set brief. So far all of my video projects have generated good responses from the intended audience. Other skills I have increased along the way are learning how to effectively interview people, specifically I now feel more confident approaching people on the street in order to ask questions and collate primary research.

Weaknesses

* Has serious issues working with people that who doesn’t agree with his ideas in group work and has a poor work ethic

* Tends to dwell on decision making for a long time

* Gets bored very easily when something doesn’t interest me whether if it is working individually or working in a group
