From here on now I have decided that I want my research to be more specific towards ethical fashion. Whilst I have been talking about it I feel like I should be discussing it more, and how it is emerging from an idea into fruition. So today I learnt at how big names and big brands do acknowledge that ethical fashion is there, and they all agree that the profile and reputation of it should be dramatically increased. I had no idea that Tom Ford and Franca Sozzani (editor) do want to make a change about it, and want to experiment with it so it could adopted within mainstream and onto the streets. Furthermore, I discovered that a lot of countries really depend on textile export, and more than 50% of it are made up by their economy. These countries include Bangladesh, Sri Lanka and Cambodia. Moreover, I realised that the media is trying to help crack down releveling the dark side of fashion, which includes the child labour issues and unfair working practices within supply chains.

Many of the clothes sold in American stores come from factories in Bangladesh, which has a history of workplace disasters. Following the factory collapse in 2013 that killed over 1,000 people, Holly Williams went undercover to see what the conditions are really like in the video below.

My opinion is that all of these methods can help ethical fashion step up, and be leading aspect in the market. I feel like when this does occurs countries like Bangladesh, Sri Lanka and Cambodia will profit from this, because there are lot of troubles with the wages the workers get, the absurd amount of hours they work and the hazards in the factory they work in. This information was relevant to me because, it inspires me that big names such as: YSL, Proenza Schouler and Donna Karan has implanted sustainable designs within their collection. It makes me feel at ease that powerbrokers of the international fashion are endorsing it, and trying to make a change. I will use this information to create my final piece by striving to make my brand introducing fashion in an eco-friendly way, so I too can lend a help to the media and other brands to raise awareness for ethical fashion.striving to make my brand introducing fashion in an eco-friendly way, so I too can lend a help to the media and other brands to raise awareness for ethical fashion.
